Bosch Dryer Not Drying: Ventless, Condensation and Heat Pump

Nearly every Bosch dryer in NYC is ventless - condensation or heat pump - and that changes what 'not drying' means. There is a second filter most owners have never opened, a condensate path that clogs with wet lint, and sensors that stop the cycle after minutes. Here is how the system works, what you can clean yourself, and where it stops being a DIY job.

Not Drying, Explained

Bosch Dryers: Damp Clothes Are an Airflow Story

Bosch dryer condenser filter compartment opened with lint buildup visible

The Second Filter Most Owners Never Open

The lint screen at the door is chapter one. Ventless Bosch dryers also have a condenser filter down low - a foam or mesh block that packs solid with damp fluff. Pull it, rinse it, let it dry fully before it goes back. If the machine dries better for a week and then slips again, the problem is past the filters.

Stops After 5 Minutes - Often With E:01

The dryer runs a few minutes, beeps and quits - the lint light or E:01 comes on. Dust around the sensor coil, a tired thermistor, or overheat logic tripping on a blocked path. We regularly open machines that are spotless inside and still stop: at that point it is a sensor-chain test, not another round of cleaning.

The Condensate Path Nobody Wants to Open

Condensation dryers collect the water they pull from your clothes - and wet lint turns to sludge in the tubes and pump under the drum. Water leaks after every cycle, the pump gurgles, the cycle stalls. It is a deep teardown most companies in the city simply decline. We do these jobs weekly, and usually the fix is a proper cleaning, not parts.

Hot Drum, Damp Clothes

The heater works, the drum is warm, and the clothes still come out damp. On ventless machines that points at the heat exchanger, moisture sensors misreading and ending the cycle early, or a thermal limiter cutting heat mid-cycle. We measure the heat path instead of guessing at parts.

Bosch 800 Series & Heat Pump

Heat pump models dry cooler and slower by design - that is normal. What is not normal is a cycle that doubled in length: that is evaporator and condenser buildup, the one maintenance these machines genuinely need.

Bosch Axxis & Older Compacts

Axxis and the WTMC/WTE-era compacts - discontinued, but very fixable. Even a belt change means taking half the machine apart, which is why many techs pass on them. We know the disassembly order by heart.

What NYC Customers Say

★★★★★

My dryer had an issue and didn't dry the clothes. We made an appointment for 9:00 and the doorbell rang at exactly 9am. He fixed my dryer right in front of me the same day. I didn't expect that. Thank you so much! Love this company.

Bosch Dryer FAQ

Bosch Dryer Questions

How do I reset my Bosch dryer?

+
Unplug it or flip the breaker for about five minutes, then restart. That clears a tripped control - but if the same stop or light returns within a cycle, the machine is reporting a real fault, usually airflow or a sensor, and resets stop helping.

Why is my Bosch dryer running but not drying?

+
On ventless models it is almost always airflow or heat exchange: a packed condenser filter, a clogged heat exchanger, or moisture sensors misreading and ending the cycle early. A spinning drum tells you nothing about the heat path.

Why does my Bosch dryer stop after 5 minutes?

+
Classic Bosch behavior when the overheat logic trips: dust around the sensor coil, a tired thermistor, or a blocked airflow path. We regularly see machines that are spotless inside and still stop - that calls for a sensor test, not another cleaning.

The lint filter light stays on after I cleaned everything. Why?

+
Because the light is not a dirt detector - it reacts to airflow and sensor readings. If cleaning both filters did not put it out, a sensor or the condensate path behind the drum is the real cause.

Why is there water under or inside my Bosch dryer?

+
Condensation dryers pull water out of your clothes - and wet lint sludge clogs the internal tubes and pump, so the water finds its own way out. A deep cleaning of that path fixes it; parts are rarely needed.

How much does a Bosch dryer repair cost?

+
The visit is $150 in Manhattan and $100 in Brooklyn, applied to the repair if you go ahead. Most ventless jobs are a deep service of the condensate path or a sensor - you will know the full price before we start.

What is the average lifespan of a Bosch dryer?

+
10-15 years is normal, and the platform is simple enough that most faults are worth fixing - especially since replacing a ventless unit in an NYC closet is rarely plug-and-play. We will tell you honestly if yours is the exception.

Do you work on Bosch heat pump dryers?

+
Yes. Heat pump models mostly need evaporator and condenser care - they dry cooler and slower by design. If yours got dramatically slower than it used to be, that is buildup, not old age.
