Manhattan & Brooklyn Bosch Dryer Repair

Bosch Dryer DR Error: What It Means and How We Fix It

DR on a Bosch dryer means the water it condensed out of your clothes is not draining - the pump under the drum cannot move it out and the sump is full. Clean the lint screen and the lower condenser filter first. If DR comes back mid-cycle, the drain pump, float switch or a sludged condensate path is the fault - and that is a teardown, not a wipe-down.

DR Code, Explained

Bosch DR Error: A Full Sump, Not a Broken Dryer

What DR Actually Means

Ventless Bosch dryers condense water out of your clothes and pump it up to a drain hose or tank. DR is the machine telling you that water is not leaving: the condensation pump is dead or clogged, the float switch is stuck, or the sump under the drum is packed with lint sludge. The drum can look bone dry while the dryer refuses to run - the water it is worried about is below, where you cannot see it.

Cleaned Everything and DR Is Still On

The classic call: lint screen spotless, condenser filter rinsed, drain hose checked - and DR comes right back. Owners can reach the filters. The pump, check valve and float switch live deeper than any manual takes you, under the drum. When cleaning did not fix it, the drain system itself is the fault, and that is exactly the visit we come prepared for.

Water Under the Dryer After Every Cycle

DR's twin symptom: the pump cannot lift the water out, so it finds its own way to your floor. Wet lint turns to sludge in the tubes and sump, and a quick hose rinse often buys a week before the puddle is back. The lasting fix is a deep cleanout of the whole condensate path - and a new condensation pump when testing shows the old one is done.

The Teardown Other Shops Decline

Reaching a Bosch condensation pump means taking apart half the machine, which is why this repair gets declined over the phone by a lot of companies. We have had customers tell us several shops passed before someone gave them our number. Our techs know the disassembly order on these machines by heart - and everything goes back together the same visit.

Every Bosch Dryer We Repair

Bosch 300 Series ventless dryer control panel

Bosch 300 & 500 Series

The ventless condensation workhorses - WTG and WTA models in closets all over Brooklyn and Manhattan, and the platform where DR shows up most. Second filter, condensate drawer, pump under the drum: we know where the water hides.

Bosch 800 Series & Heat Pump

Heat pump models handle the same condensate - on these a drain fault usually reads E03 instead of DR. They dry cooler and slower by design; what is not normal is a stalled cycle or water alerts, and that is evaporator, condenser and condensate-path care.

Bosch Axxis & Older Compacts

Axxis and the WTMC/WTE-era compacts - discontinued, but very fixable. Even a belt change means taking half the machine apart, which is why many techs pass on them. We know the disassembly order by heart.

What NYC Customers Say

★★★★★

My dryer had an issue and didn't dry the clothes. We made an appointment for 9:00 and the doorbell rang at exactly 9am. He fixed my dryer right in front of me the same day. I didn't expect that. Thank you so much! Love this company.

Bosch Dryer FAQ

Bosch Dryer Questions

How do I fix the DR error code on a Bosch dryer?

+
Start with what you can reach: clean the lint screen, rinse the lower condenser filter, and check the drain hose for kinks. Then run a cycle. If DR returns, the condensation pump, float switch or sump under the drum is the problem - that part is a teardown job, and it is what we do daily.

Why does my dryer keep stopping and saying DR?

+
Your ventless dryer condenses water out of the clothes and has to pump it out. When the pump cannot keep up - clogged, failed, or float switch stuck - the machine stops mid-cycle and shows DR so it does not flood your floor. It is a protective stop, not a random glitch.

Is there a reset button on a Bosch dryer?

+
No dedicated button. Unplug the dryer or flip the breaker for about five minutes, then restart. That clears the control - but if DR comes back within a cycle, the machine is reporting a real drain fault, and a reset will not fix the water sitting in the sump.

I cleaned both filters and DR is still on. Why?

+
Because the filters are only the start of the water's path. The pump, check valve and sump live under the drum, where no manual takes you. If cleaning did not clear DR, the drain system itself needs service - that is the visit, not more cleaning.

What does DR mean on a Bosch 300 Series dryer?

+
The same as on the 500s and 800s: the condensation drain is blocked or the pump has failed. The 300 Series WTG models are the most common Bosch dryers in NYC closets, so they are also the machines we see DR on most.

How much does fixing a Bosch DR error cost?

+
The visit is $150 in Manhattan and $100 in Brooklyn, applied to the repair if you go ahead. Most DR jobs are a deep cleanout of the condensate path or a condensation pump replacement - you will know the full price before we start.

Does DR mean my Bosch dryer is dying?

+
No. DR is a drain warning, not a verdict - the drum, motor and heater are usually fine. Most DR calls end as a deep service of the condensate path, sometimes with a new pump, and the dryer goes on to work for years. We will tell you honestly if yours is the rare exception.

Do you work on Bosch heat pump dryers?

+
Yes. Heat pump models drain the same condensate - on these a drain fault usually reads E03 instead of DR. Mostly they need evaporator, condenser and condensate-path care, and they dry cooler and slower by design.
