Stackable Units & Laundry Centers
A stacked washer and dryer is two machines in a closet with no room to move - or a one-piece laundry center like a GE Spacemaker. Most shops quote it like a regular job and then can't reach the back. We come with sliders and a dolly, a second technician when the dryer has to come down, and the parts that fail most on stacked sets: dryer belts and rollers, thermal fuses, drain pumps, door switches. GE, LG, Bosch, Whirlpool, Frigidaire, Kenmore, Maytag, Electrolux, and Miele, with same-day service when you call before 1 PM.

Common Stacked-Unit Problems
Behind a closed closet door a stacked dryer can't breathe: it overheats, the thermal fuse blows or the high-limit trips, and it "stops heating". On Whirlpool and GE stacks it's the fuse and a lint-choked drum housing; on Electrolux and Frigidaire it's airflow plus a thermistor. We clean the dryer out, replace the fuse or belt kit, and tell you if the vent run behind the wall is the real problem.
A ventless dryer dries slower than a vented one by design. Much slower, or stopping mid-cycle with DR on Bosch 300 and 500 stacks, points at the condensate side: the manual hints at the door, but on a condenser dryer it is the pump that won't push water out and a sump full of lint sludge behind it - on a ventless unit the lint leaves with the water. We've done it on Bosch stacks across Manhattan and Brooklyn all year - pump, drain line, moisture sensor - often without taking the dryer down. Full DR error guide
The drain pump sits behind the washer's front panel, and on a stacked set that panel is the only way in. Bosch E18, LG OE, GE and Frigidaire washers that stop full of water - all pump jobs we do from the front. When the filter won't come out because the hose behind it is blocked, the dryer has to come off first; we schedule that up front instead of discovering it on site. Full washer repair guide
A dryer that thumps needs a roller and belt kit; a washer that walks has a jumped suspension spring or worn shocks. A bottom-washer bearing that growls is the one repair we talk you out of - on a stacked set it costs more than the machine. Doors take a beating at shoulder height: GE and Blomberg latches, door switches, and handles are quick fixes once we're there.
Every Stacked Set We Repair

The one-piece GUD24 and GUD27 towers you find in walk-ups all over Brooklyn. Belts that slip and read as an unbalanced load, speed sensors that corrode on the motor, shifters that stop engaging, lid locks. We fix them in place - the dryer doesn't come off a unitized unit.

Frigidaire and Kenmore 417-series towers and Electrolux stacked pairs: dryer belts, heating elements, thermistors behind E61, timers, and the three-beep refusal. One Midtown building had us service two Electrolux pairs in a single visit.

LG front-loaders stacked with the factory kit and the single-body WashTower. OE and IE codes, Flow Sense airflow warnings, a dryer that stops heating, LE sensor faults on the washer underneath. WashTower runs on 240V - a dead tower is often the outlet.

Bosch 300, 500 and 800 washers with a ventless dryer on top, and Miele W1/T1 pairs, in Manhattan high-rises. DR and E18 codes, drain pumps, door boots, and the Bosch quirk that the washer is powered through the dryer's cord - a dead washer can be the dryer.

27-inch front-load pairs on stacking kits and the Whirlpool Thin Twin laundry centers. Roller kits for the thumping, thermal fuses, a timer that never stops, lid locks and door switches. We bring the kit on the first visit when the symptom is clear.

Blomberg and Beko stacks, Speed Queen pairs in laundry rooms, Equator and other compacts. Door handles, drain hoses, belts. For a stacked Speed Queen in an enclosed space we bring sliders and lift the set rather than drag it across your floor.

Timothy was detail focused and very helpful as we took off the doors of the washer/dryer space, communicative about the repair steps he was taking and fastidious when putting everything back when the washer was repaired.

Front first: filters, drain pumps on most Bosch and LG washers, door switches, dryer belts on many models - we reach them without unstacking. We only take the dryer down when the repair needs it.
When it does come down, it's a two-person job. We schedule the second technician up front and quote the access charge before the visit, not after - no "we'll come back with help".
Closet doors come off and floors get covered. Sliders, a dolly, and the doors back on their hinges before we leave - that's the standard, not a favor.
One machine that washes and dries in the same drum is a combo, not a stack. For those, see our washer dryer combo repair page.
