Common Dryer Problems
No heat is most often a blown thermal fuse, sometimes the heating element. On gas dryers it's usually the igniter, flame sensor, or gas valve coils — all parts we carry and replace same-day.
Slow drying often isn't the vent. On condenser dryers a failing drain pump leaves water behind; on heat-pump units the condenser clogs; a lint-coated moisture sensor ends cycles early. Overloading does it too.
Squealing, grinding, or thumping points to worn drum rollers, the idler pulley, or a stretched belt. A snapped belt usually means the rollers are worn too, so we fit a full drum repair kit, not a quick patch.
A dead panel or a drum that won't turn is usually a broken door switch, a blown thermal fuse, or a failed start switch. We pinpoint it fast, and most fixes are done the same visit.

Ventless, condenser & heat-pump dryers — common in condos with no exhaust line, where slow drying usually traces to the drain pump or a clogged condenser, not the vent.

Co-op, condo & doorman buildings — we carry insurance and provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) for buildings that require one before a technician can come up.
Why Dryers Fail
The most common reason a dryer fails is also the most dangerous: lint. It builds up inside the cabinet and the ducting, chokes airflow, and makes the dryer overheat, shut off, or trip the thermal fuse. Left long enough it can ignite — we've opened NYC dryers where lint had started to smolder inside before burning itself out. During a repair we clear the lint we can safely reach inside the appliance. The in-wall duct belongs to the building, so if the buildup is in the wall, we'll tell you exactly what to flag to your super or management.
