Common Miele Dishwasher Faults

Miele Dishwasher Problems We Fix Every Week

Miele dishwasher display showing water intake fault message

Dishwasher Stops Mid-Cycle, Intake/Drain Blinking

The classic Miele complaint in NYC. The machine drains, starts filling, then quits a few minutes in with the Intake/Drain light flashing. It is rarely the pump - NYC hard water kills the water valve and clogs the intake path, and Miele shuts down to protect itself. On many G-series the valve and hose come as one sealed waterproof unit, so we check the valve, flow meter and pressure switch before replacing anything.

Miele dishwasher display showing Fault F24

F24 and No Hot Water

Every forum says F24 means the heater relay. We have seen enough Miele dishwashers to know the relay is only part of the story - the fault often sits in the pressure switch or temperature sensor, and a new relay brings the code right back within a few cycles. Sometimes it returns as F51 instead. That is exactly why we diagnose first instead of swapping parts one by one at your expense.

Won't Drain or Stops with F11

Water sitting in the tub, or the cycle dies with F11 on the display. This code floats: sometimes it is the drain pump, sometimes the control board reporting a pump that is actually fine. Miele drain pumps rarely fail on their own, so we rule out the clog and the electronics before anyone pays for a new pump.

Fills, Then Beeps and Drains Back Out

The machine takes water for a few seconds, stops, beeps and pumps everything back out - often with the Drain, Inlet and Rinse Aid lights on together. That pattern usually points at the heater pressure switch, which Miele mounts on the circulation pump - a layout most brands do not use. Familiar problem, precise fix.

Miele dishwasher built into wood cabinetry in a NYC apartment kitchen

Miele Built-In & Panel-Ready

Fully integrated SCVi models hidden behind custom cabinet fronts - G5051, G6365, G2472 and the rest of the G-series. We remove and reinstall the panel without damaging it and diagnose the machine in place whenever possible.

Miele Futura Classic dishwasher control panel with indicator lights

Miele Futura & Classic

Futura Classic, Classic Plus and the rest of that generation - the workhorses running in brownstones and condos all over Brooklyn and Manhattan. We know their control panels and fault lights by heart.

Stainless steel Miele Inspira dishwasher in a NYC kitchen

Miele Optima, Inspira & Excella

The older G800 and G2000-era machines, stainless and integrated. Miele still stocks parts for most of them, and they are usually worth fixing - these were built to last two decades.

Miele Professional dishwasher with the door open during service

Miele Professional Series

Short-cycle Professional-series machines in busy households and light commercial kitchens. Hotter water, faster cycles, same Miele logic - and a tech who has had one apart before.

Miele FAQ

Miele Repair Questions

Do you offer same-day Miele dishwasher service?

+
Most Miele calls in Brooklyn and Manhattan get a same-day or next-day visit when you call before 1 PM. Miele parts sometimes take longer to arrive - we tell you the real timeline before you commit.

My dishwasher blinks Intake/Drain and stops. Is it dead?

+
Almost never. That light is Miele protecting itself from a water supply or drain problem - most often a valve or clog, not a failed machine. It is one of the most common repairs we do.

What does F24 mean on my dishwasher?

+
Officially, a heater relay fault. In practice the relay is often innocent - the same code comes from pressure switch and sensor faults. We test before we replace, so you do not pay for parts that were not the problem.

Why does my Miele dishwasher take so long?

+
By design, longer than most brands. Miele is one of the few dishwashers in the US that heats its own water instead of relying on your building's hot line, so standard cycles run long. A cycle that suddenly got much longer, or dishes coming out cold and dirty, is different - that is usually a heating fault worth diagnosing.

Is an older Miele dishwasher worth repairing?

+
Usually yes. Miele builds these machines for a roughly 20-year service life and still stocks parts for older G-series. On the visit we give you the honest math: the cost of the fix versus a new built-in Miele with a 2-3 month wait and an installation that may open up your cabinets.

How much does Miele dishwasher repair cost?

+
The visit is $150 in Manhattan and $100 in Brooklyn, applied to the repair if you go ahead. Miele parts cost more than average - we quote the full price before any work starts, so the decision is always yours.

Are you an authorized Miele service?

+
No - we are an independent local repair company, and we say that upfront. What that means for you: a visit this week instead of a factory queue, a $100-$150 visit, and genuine Miele parts either way.

Do you use genuine Miele parts?

+
Yes. Miele parts come from Miele - that is how the brand works, and putting generic parts in a Miele is a bad idea we do not entertain. The Miele parts warehouse is in New Jersey, so sometimes a part is in our hands the very next day. Slower items take longer - we tell you the real timeline before you commit.

Miele Error Codes

Miele Dishwasher Error Codes, Decoded

Water & Drain

F11Drain fault - water left in the tub. Sometimes the pump, sometimes the board; this code floats, so we test both
F12/F13Water intake restricted - hard-water buildup in the valve or flow meter, the #1 Miele fault in NYC
F14Fills, beeps, drains back out - heater pressure switch on the circulation pump
F173Water inlet blocked or pressure too low, with the Intake/Drain light on

Heating

F24Heater relay circuit - often not the relay itself; we test before replacing anything
F25Heating fault, or moisture under the circulation pump
F51Temperature sensor signal lost - likes to appear right after someone swaps the relay for F24

Pump & Protection

F70Waterproof system tripped - water in the base pan; we find the leak instead of just resetting
F78Circulation pump blocked or not powered - sometimes the board, not the pump
Intake/DrainNot a code but Miele's most common warning light - a valve or clog, rarely the pump

Seeing one of these? Don't keep restarting the cycle - call us with the code and your model number, and we come prepared.
